PRACTICAL NOTES FOR APPAREL BUYERS
Clear Terms Before the Trade.
What to discuss with your supplier and commission agent before agreeing a textile purchase or requesting credit-based terms.
What a textile commission agent does
A textile commission agent, or adhat agency, helps connect buyers and suppliers and coordinate the business relationship. BK Enterprise's role covers supplier discovery, sourcing discussions, purchase coordination and commercial follow-up.
An agency relationship should still be clearly understood. Ask who is selling the goods, who will issue the invoice, who receives payment and which responsibilities remain with each party. Confirm any agency commission or service charges and who is responsible for paying them before proceeding.
Suppliers pay our commission once the customer's payment has cleared. Buyers pay no agency fee to BK Enterprise. This concerns BK's agency fee; goods, packing, transport and other agreed purchase costs remain separate.
Before a first transaction, use our agent verification checklist to establish identities, responsibilities and payment instructions.
Credit starts with a discussion
BK Enterprise can help facilitate eligible credit-based transactions. Eligibility and terms depend on the buyer, supplier, relationship and transaction. An enquiry, supplier introduction or previous purchase does not automatically create a credit facility.
BK Enterprise does not promise automatic credit, a fixed credit limit, a standard repayment period or guaranteed approval. Discuss the proposed arrangement directly and confirm the agreed commercial terms.
Credit facilities and terms vary based on the buyer, supplier, relationship and transaction. Arrangements are subject to agreed commercial terms.
How BK considers new buyers
We do not use a formal document checklist. For a new customer, we take references from our existing customers and consider GST filing and compliance history as one input into our assessment. GST information is not a credit rating or a guarantee of repayment.
New retail customers pay an advance, and their purchases are capped at that amount. Confirm the recipient, purpose and written terms of any advance before paying. Do not assume that an initial purchase establishes a credit facility.
Questions to resolve before you agree
- Amount: What purchase value is covered, and is any advance payment required?
- Timing: When is payment due, and which event starts that period—an agreed date, invoicing or another stated milestone?
- Recipient: Who must be paid, and how will the payment details be verified?
- Charges: Are any commission, finance, late-payment or other charges applicable? If so, how are they calculated?
- Goods concerns: How should shortages, damage or a specification mismatch be reported, and how will an agreed adjustment be recorded?
- Changes: Who can agree a change to the payment schedule or order, and how will it be confirmed?
These questions are a conversation checklist. They do not describe a standard BK credit product or imply that any particular charge, period or remedy applies to your purchase.
Keep a shared written record
Confirm the order and payment terms in writing with the relevant parties. Keep the invoice, purchase details, due dates, payment acknowledgements and any agreed adjustments together. If part of a discussion remains unresolved, clarify it before treating the arrangement as final.
If you expect difficulty meeting an agreed date, contact the relevant party early. A revised schedule needs agreement; silence or an informal request should not be treated as confirmation.
Information for an initial conversation
Start with your firm name, city, the category and approximate purchase you have in mind, your buying timeline and the terms you want to discuss. We can then explain the appropriate next step for your requirement.
Do not send bank passwords, payment-card details or identity documents through the website enquiry form. If further business information is needed, discuss the purpose and an appropriate way to share it directly.
Continue with your sourcing brief
Credit is one part of the transaction. Product suitability, supplier terms and order coordination matter too. Use our saree sourcing checklist to prepare your requirement, or speak with BK Enterprise about your buying plans.
